Back to basics
Our Architects and Designers got back to basics recently by taking part in a workshop hosted by a respected artist and illustrator.
The Culture and Morale group at Harris Irwin invited Neil Pearson to our northern head office near Richmond as part of a new series of events planned to provide colleagues with the opportunity to do something different during the workday.
In this case the idea was to let people reconnect with the basic enjoyment of drawing, whilst learning some additional skills along the way.
So, leaving their computers behind, some of the Aske team joined Neil outside wielding only a pencil and paper.
After talking through some of his drawings, Neil encouraged staff to find a spot at Aske Hall Stables where they could sketch the buildings, whilst offering some insight and tips along the way.
The weather was great, and everyone enjoyed being out in the fresh air and getting back to basics by sketching with a pencil, something which started their love of drawing and architecture in the very first place.
It was also well timed in the week that Mental Health Awareness Day took place, on Monday 10th October, given this is an issue which is close to our hearts at Harris Irwin.
The next workshop is scheduled for mid-November, when we have children’s illustrator, Liz Million, coming in to teach us how to draw dinosaurs and monsters!
