Site visit
We recently undertook a site visit to a 70-bedroom care home which is being built for one of our long-standing clients in East Sussex.
Harris Irwin is providing its technical services on the Barchester Healthcare home in Battle, which is scheduled for completion in summer 2022.
Work is progressing well on the home with second floor planks currently being installed and first floor blockwork almost completed.
When it opens, the home, which is called Hazel Lodge, will provide long-term care, as well as short-term breaks for respite and intermediate care.
The home will feature a wide range of facilities including a café with outdoor seating serving tea, coffee and homemade cakes, dining rooms with garden access, a cinema and a spa bathroom located on each floor of the home.
For those living with dementia, there will be a dedicated area called Memory Lane which will offer high quality care and thoughtful touches to help make life easier. For example, features include a Magic Table – this is an interactive light projector that was originally developed in The Netherlands. It’s a specialist piece of technology designed to support residents living with dementia.
We’re looking forward to continuing working with Barchester to help deliver this high quality, purpose-built home.
The town of Battle got its name from the famous Battle of Hastings, so there’s plenty of history connected with the area.
